(Sodium Alginate + Sodium Bicarbonate + Calcium Carbonate) is a gastrointestinal drug that is primarily used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, heartburn, and acidity. It aids in the relief of indigestion and gastrointestinal irritation. Indigestion is the inability to digest food, which is accompanied by stomach pain and discomfort.
Calcium carbonate, Sodium alginate, and Sodium bicarbonate are all components of (Sodium Alginate + Sodium Bicarbonate + Calcium Carbonate). Calcium carbonate is an antacid that works by lowering stomach acid levels. When sodium alginate reacts with stomach acid, it creates a thick gel. This gel floats on the surface of the stomach contents and functions as a barrier to minimize reflux. Sodium bicarbonate is also an antacid and has an alkaline pH, which aids in neutralizing the stomach's acidic pH.
The product's mode of action is physical and does not rely on systemic circulation absorption. After consumption, the product swiftly combines with stomach acid to produce a raft of alginic acid gel with a pH that is close to neutral and floats on the stomach contents, successfully preventing gastro-esophageal reflux for up to 4 hours. In extreme circumstances, the raft itself may reflux into the esophagus instead of the contents of the stomach and have a demulcent effect.
For oral consumption of 10-20 ml after meals and at night for adults and kids over 12 years old. Elderly: There is no need to alter the dosage for this age group. Children aged 6 to 12: 5 to 10 ml after meals and before bed. Not advised for children under 6 years old.
